Kachumber salad is usually consumed as a salad or side dish for roti, phulkas, dal rice, and curd rice. It can also be served as a dip for papad or chips. I often make this salad at home for our lunch as I love the combination of crunchy, spicy, and tangy flavors.
The traditional kachumber salad has just three basic veggies. However, it can be modified by adding grated carrots, raw mango, corn, sprouts, radish, and capsicum. You can throw in some crushed peanuts for a crunchy flavor. It is a must to try basic salad at home.

Kachumber salad ingredients:
Tomato - 1 medium
Cucumber - 1 medium
Cilantro - 1/4 cup chopped
Lemon - half
Red chili powder or Pepper - 1/4 tsp
Cumin Powder - 1/4 tsp
Salt - As per taste

How to make the kachumber salad:
1. Firstly, dice the onion, tomato, and cucumber into small cubes or lengthwise and roughly chop the cilantro/coriander leaves.
2. Secondly, sprinkle salt and pepper powder. Give it a nice mix.
3. Squeeze half a lemon over the salad.
4. Finally, give it a good mix. Rest it for 10 mins.
5. Serve the refreshing Kachumber salad as a dip for tortilla chips/papad or starter in an Indian thali.
