About Pavithra - paviskitchen - pavis kitchen

Hi everyone! Welcome to my blog:) I'm Pavithra, founder and author of Pavi's Kitchen.

If you are looking for healthy and delicious recipes, you have come to the right place. In the busy world, many of us aim at following a healthy lifestyle but don't realize the first step is with the food we eat. Healthy and delicious food provides the necessary satisfaction and enables us to stay on track to meet our goals. Hence I wish to help people on this quest by being the home chef, recipe developer, photographer, and content writer behind Pavi's Kitchen.

I can bring wonderful, healthy, and delicious dishes to your kitchen with my detailed step-by-step instructions, recipe pictures, health benefits, and nutritional facts. Also, I'm very much delighted to share that my blog has occupied a place among the "Top 100 Vegetarian Blogs, Websites & Influencers in 2020 & 2021" by Feedspot. Check out the link here to see the top listing.

It all started at the age of 10 when I discovered my passion for cooking. My grandmother's family owned an Udipi hotel in Karnataka, India,
specializing in authentic vegetarian dishes. I watched my grandmother craft authentic dishes; her style, the aroma of spices, and the mouthwatering flavors developed my interest in cooking.

The first recipe I had ever learned from my grandma was making dosa (Indian-style rice flour pancake) with coconut chutney(coconut dip); that was a hugely successful attempt. I got a perfect round-shaped dosa and enjoyed the process of making it. That motivated me to learn different dishes in my childhood.

I actually live to eat. Yes, in fact, food decides my mood, energy level, and momentum of the day. My life is planned around food, like what kind of food I'm eating today for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks. Also, I have to make sure that my choice of food is healthy. So, planning for food starts much before any other work in my life:)

I prefer to eat every 2 hours. So my day starts with a huge glass of plain warm water, and after a while, I regularly have 10 soaked almonds along with apple/banana/mixed berries. Then for breakfast, I eat 2 idlis with chutney and sambar/1 veggie paneer dosa/bowl of poha upma/avocado toast/veg sandwich.

I love to have a bowl of green salad, rice, dal, and curry for lunch. I also love to include healthy snacks like nuts, dry fruits, yogurt, peanuts, fruit juice, and roti with ghee jaggery combo in between main meals. My dinner is quite early; I finish by 7pm and have a glass of turmeric milk at 9pm.

Being a vegetarian by diet, in Pavi's kitchen, you can find both vegetarian and vegan recipes from Indian cuisine. Recipes include vegetable salads, Legume/bean salads, Indian curries, subzi, sweets, soups, egg-less baking, desserts, a few international recipes, and South Indian festival procedures. I usually post recipes based on what I cook every day at home.

I seldom make deep-fried snacks, high-calorie Indian sweets, and exotic subzis at home. These special items are reserved only for festivals and parties. Hence, I rarely post these recipes on my blog.

Most of the recipes posted in my blog are very easy to prepare with simple ingredients available in your kitchen. The recipes posted here are based on what I learned from my grandma, mother, and mother-in-law and further improvised on them to simplify the preparation.

As I'm always interested in cooking and decorating food, I have always wanted to start a food blog for a very long time. Somehow, it got postponed due to my studies. At last, my long-cherished dream came true in June 2019. I love cooking and blogging for so many reasons; I get to cook fresh food every day and enjoy eating my favorite dishes at home, and sharing the recipes on my website allows people to be a part of something magical.
I strongly believe that food prepared at home with love is the secret to a healthy and happy family.

Though I really enjoy blogging, it takes a lot of time to create and maintain; there is so much work and effort involved in a single recipe post. Right from planning a recipe, buying ingredients, preparing the dish, setting up for the photo shoot, editing pictures and videos, writing a recipe, posting it on my blog, and maintaining a website is all done by me.

Every day I spent about 6 hours on my blog. I love to click all my pictures under natural daylight, and the picture should communicate to me, so the photoshoot takes around 1 to 2 hours.

I'm very grateful and delighted to receive love and support from my friends, family, and people from across the world. Every day, I get many messages and emails saying that they have tried my recipes, which are so tasty and delicious. Those lovely compliments make my day, and it keeps motivating me to post new recipes frequently.

So far, I have published around 100+ recipes, including soups, salads, rice, stir fry, curries, cakes, sweets, etc. I would like to keep my cooking as healthy as possible without adding artificial food colors and preservatives. Also, I hope the step-by-step procedures and pictures are useful for beginners in cooking.

Apart from cooking and blogging, my hobbies are playing badminton with my spouse, stargazing, traveling, watching movies, and listening to music. My pet name is Pav and Pavi; hence I kept the blog name "Pavi's Kitchen".

Keep visiting my space and spread the word about Pavi's Kitchen with your friends and family. Thank you for your time, and have a wonderful day!

Cheers,
Pavithra
