Fruit chaat recipe | Indian spiced fruit salad | Fruit chaat masala with detailed step-by-step photos.
Fruit chaat is an Indian-style fruit salad with
diverse flavors like sweet, sour, tangy, and spicy. All these
wonderful flavors come from the chaat masala powder, the main ingredient for this recipe. If you are a fruit person, then you should try this spicy fruit chaat recipe.
This spiced fruit chaat is very popular in India and
Pakistan, where it’s typically had for Iftar during the month of Ramadan.
It is also consumed as a snack or a dessert.
Fruit chaat is a traditional chopped salad made with seasonal
fruits like apple, banana, orange, papaya, mango, pear, grape, berries,
pomegranate kernels, pineapple, kiwi, guava, sapota/chikku, and so on. You can pick any fruits of your choice and make the recipe as colorful as possible.
However, I don't include fruits such as honeydew, watermelon, grapefruit, and
cantaloupe. Infact, high water content fruits tend to release more moisture and dampness, so the fruit chaat will become mushy and soggy. It may not taste good.
What is chaat masala:
Chaat masala is a spice mix powder that contains rock salt, black
salt (Kala namak), amchoor (dry/green mango powder), roasted cumin seeds,
coriander seeds, dry ginger, pomegranate seeds (anardana), red chili, mint
leaf, nutmeg, asafoetida (hing), and black pepper.
Chaat masala is also used in many recipes like bhel puri, sev puri. I usually buy chaat masala from the store. You can also prepare it at home
if you have the ingredients.
I will put the Amazon links below. You can
purchase them if you do not have them. I love Shan chaat masala for this fruit chaat recipe. You can also try that!

Notes:
1. Fresh fruits work best for this recipe. Choose sweet, sour, and
juicy fruits.
2. Dice the fruits evenly. Add apples and bananas right before

once it is added, serve them immediately; otherwise, they may turn
mushy and soggy.

and add chaat masala before consuming them. This way, you can make
this recipe for potluck parties.
5. Chaat masala has a strong flavor. So add them carefully, begin
with a tsp, and increase as per spice level.
How to make fruit chaat:
1. Chop the fruits into bite-sized pieces and toss them in a large bowl.
