Parfait is a
French word that literally means "perfect." Fruit and yogurt parfait is nothing but a layer of yogurt
and fruits placed in a see-through glass or a bowl and finally topped up with nuts, seeds, granola, honey, maple syrup,
etc.
It is a type of fruit and yogurt salad ideal for a
grab-n-go breakfast, quick snack, or even enjoyed as a dessert. It is a
delicious recipe and also makes a perfect treat for your sweet tooth. Besides that, you will need only 10 minutes to whip up this nutritious dessert.
I made the yogurt parfait recipe with full-fat plain Greek yogurt and fresh fruits like berries and mangoes. But, you can always pick your favorite fruits or whatever is in season.
Traditionally, Greek yogurt works best for parfait recipes as the texture is rich, thick, and creamier than regular yogurt. Also, it contains twice the amount of protein and less sodium and complex carbs than regular ones. But in case if it is not available, you can opt for regular plain yogurt, or vanilla/honey/berry flavored yogurt too.
There are so many variations in making this yogurt parfait. It all depends on what kind of ingredients you put into the recipe. My version of homemade fruit yogurt parfait is quite simple to make and healthy as well.
I love to make this parfait at least twice a month at home. Usually, I have it for my mid-morning snack. The freshly made parfait tastes so creamy and yummy. Generally, I avoid buying the store-bought yogurt parfait as it contains preservatives, artificial flavorings, gums, and high-fructose corn syrup.
