Soan papdi milkshake is nothing but a milk-based shake/smoothie made from storebought soan papdi ice cream, whole milk, sugar, saffron, and assorted nuts.

It is such an easy and quick milkshake, can be done within 5 minutes or so. I made this shake from Vadilal brand soan papdi ice cream, which is available in most Indian grocery stores.

Soan papdi is a sweet recipe made from sugar, gram flour, flour, ghee, milk, nuts, and cardamom. Soan papdi is also known as patisa, san papri, Sohan papdi, or shonpapdi.

Soan papdi recipe is a popular Indian dessert. It is also widely popular in Pakistan and Bangladesh as well. Soan papdi has a crispy and flaky texture. It is usually served as cube-shaped or as flakes. The traditional soan papdi was sold loose in a rolled paper cone.

Soan papdi is originated in the Western state of Maharashtra and spread across Gujarat, Punjab, Uttara Pradesh, and the Rajasthan states.

Soan papdi also comes in different flavors, such as kesar, pistachio, rose, mango, strawberry, pineapple, chocolate, etc. This popular dessert is available in all sweet shops in India. Haldirams soan papdi is a very famous brand and also available in all Indian grocery shops. Soan papdi is usually given as a gift during Diwali and Holi.

We love to try unique and exotic Ice-cream flavors like Raj Bhog, Guava cream cheese, tender coconut, fig, butterscotch, chikoo, paan, malai, falooda, and so on. Further, I love to make milkshakes out of exotic flavored Ice cream. 

One such unique flavor is soan papdi ice cream. It was so creamy and delicious. Must try this flavor if you find it in nearby Indian grocery stores or online. I have also attached some Vadilal Ice cream container photos for reference, have a look. Alright, now let's into the recipe!

Serves - 2

Kitchen tools - Blender, Spoon, and serving glass.

Soan papdi milkshake Ingredients:

1. Soan papdi ice cream - 4 to 6 big scoops
2. Whole Milk - 2 cups/500 ml
3. Kesar - A pinch
4. Nuts - 1 tbsp chopped
5. Sugar - 2 tbsp
6. Ice cubes - Few

How to make soan papdi milkshake:


1. Scoop the soan papdi ice cream from the container.

2. Put the ice cream in a blender jar.

3. Pour required milk and add sugar as per sweetness.

4. Blend for 3 mins or until it turns smooth and creamy.

5. Open the jar lid and leave it for a minute. The frothy layer appears on top.

6. Then transfer the milkshake into the serving glass.

7.  Put another scoop of soan papdi ice cream on the top if you like.

8. Garnish it with chopped nuts and saffron strands.

9. Serve the chilled soan papdi milkshake to your loved ones!
