is a Mexican recipe but I have prepared it in an Indian style. Avocado is a delicious and nutritious fruit loaded with healthy fats, fiber, vitamins, and minerals.

Avocado is used to prepare a variety of dishes like salads, smoothies, milkshakes, soups, avocado Indian roti, sandwich, etc. I have prepared lots of dishes using this delicious fruit. Click here for the Avocado & Corn salad recipe.

Avocado has a rich, smooth, and creamy texture. So the mashed avocado can be eaten as a spread on a bread toast; it tastes so delicious and all the good and healthy fats that are present in avocado keep you full and satiated. That is the specialty of my favorite avocado and I love to scoop them using a spoon and eat them as such.

It just tastes like eating butter. Avocado is also known as butter fruit in India and alligator pear in Australia. It's widely grown in Mexico. In San Diego, we get lots of fresh avocados and I had tried both Hass & reed varieties. If the avocado looks green in color, which means it is yet to ripen.

Once it is ripened, the skin turns brownish in color. You can check the avocado by slightly giving pressure to the fruit or removing the fruit's stem. Generally, we do not consume the skin and the seed of an Avocado.

How to make guacamole:

1. Finely chop the red onion, tomato, and cilantro. Mash avocado using a fork. (Note - Use a food processor or a blender to get a creamy avocado mash. Here, I have used a fork to get chunky pieces of avocado in my guacamole dip).

I had never stored the homemade guacamole in the refrigerator, so I'm not sure of the shelf life. When I referred the google, it says it can be stored for a week or so if stored properly.

Mostly, I prefer to eat freshly prepared foods and avoid buying the store-bought guacamole dip because of the added preservatives. Whenever I want to store half-cut avocado, I tightly wrap it with cling wrap and store it in the refrigerator for a day or two as it prevents oxidization, and thus avoids the fruit turning brownish-black.
