Khatta meetha Kaddu Ki Sabji is a sweet and sour pumpkin curry made from pumpkin fruit and Indian spices. Veggies like onion, tomatoes are not included in this recipe. It is a North Indian-style pumpkin stir fry recipe that has a blend of varied flavors.

Sweet Sour Pumpkin curry is a simple yet flavorful side dish that pairs well with roti, rice, and pulao. It tastes super delicious with piping hot pooris. It is a vegan, gluten-free, and also a satvik recipe that can be prepared during festival occasions.

Petha ki subzi is extremely easy and quick to make. It is a must-try recipe if you are fond of pumpkins. Plus, the sun-dried pumpkin seeds are edible and full of nutrients. You can include the seeds in salads, smoothies, trail mix, curries, etc.

Pumpkin is called Kaddu/petha/pethe in Hindi, Arasanikai /Parangikai /Poosanikai in Tamil, Gummadi Kayi in Telugu, Kumbalakai or Cheenikayi in Kannada, Mathanga in Malayalam, Lal bhopala in Marathi, and Kumro in Bengali. Khatta-Meetha denotes sour-sweet in Hindi.

This Khatta Meetha Pethe ki Sabzi is my first pumpkin recipe in my blog. I'm not a huge fan of summer/winter squash veggies so I hardly make any pumpkin-based recipes at home. Pumpkin is a mildly sweet fruit, the sourness comes from dry mango /amchur powder and the sweetness comes from pumpkin and sugar/jaggery.
