I'm super excited to share my favorite Chocolate banana cake recipe in my blog. It is the ultimate dessert for chocolate lovers. Just imagine a rich, moist, gooey
chocolate cake with an aroma of banana and cocoa flavor, it's utterly chocolicious!!!
This deliciously moist cake requires a few ingredients like overripe bananas, whole wheat/all-purpose flour/maida, milk, cocoa powder,
choco chips, and so on. In fact, the cake batter can be prepared within a
few minutes. It is such an easy and delightful cake that can be made within
1 hour.
It is an eggless chocolate banana cake, so the addition of overripe bananas is key, and it gives gentle sweetness and helps retain moisture. This cake has a dense and chewier texture. It
is basically in-between a fluffy choco cake and a brownie.
This moist and delicious banana chocolate cake is loaded with gooey melted chocolate chips, and a small square goes a long way. If you
crave more chocolatey flavor, simply top it up with chocolate
syrup/chocolate frosting/chocolate ganache.
I'm extremely fond of cakes and pastries, so whenever I have overripe bananas in hand, that means it's time to bake either banana walnut bread or banana chocolate chip cake. It is so easy and quick to make. Moreover, it makes an excellent evening
snack to go along with coffee/tea.
The lovely thing about this decadent choco-chip banana cake is even a tiny piece tastes so blissful that it would instantly satisfy your sweet-tooth cravings. Furthermore, this cake comes in handy for parties,
road trips, morning breakfast, snacks, post-dinner desserts, etc.
The chocolate banana cake tastes incredibly delicious with vanilla ice cream and chocolate syrup, and whipped cream on top. You can also combine crushed nuts like almonds, walnut, cashew, pistachio, hazelnut for a
crunchy flavor.

Recipe - Eggless chocolate banana cake | Vegan banana chocolate chip cake.
Serves - 12 to 16 square pieces
Cuisine - Continental
Course - Dessert | Snack
Diet - Eggless | Vegetarian | Vegan
Prep time - 10 mins | Bake time - 45 mins | Total time - 55 mins
Author - Pavithra
Dry Ingredients:
All-purpose flour/Maida/Wheat flour - 1.5 cup
Sugar - 1 cup
Unsweetened Cocoa powder - 1/2 cup
Salt - 1/4 tsp
Cinnamon powder - 1/4 tsp
Baking powder - 1 tsp
Baking soda - 1/2 tsp
Wet Ingredients:
Ripe banana - 2 large/3 medium/4 small
Oil - 1/2 cup
Vanilla essence/extract - 1 tsp
Vinegar - 1 tsp optional
Water/Milk - 1/2 cup
To garnish: (Optional)
Choco chips - 1/4 to 1/2 cup
Nuts - 1/4 cup chopped
Tips:
1. I have used Hershey's unsweetened cocoa powder for this recipe. Baking soda activates the acidity in the cocoa powder, which makes the cake batter rise in the oven.
2. You can use brown sugar/coconut palm sugar instead of white sugar.
Add them as per sweetness.
3. Overripe bananas are key to this recipe. To ripen bananas fast,
store them in a loosely sealed brown paper bag.
4. Baking time will somewhat vary depending on your oven, so I would
recommend you to check for doneness around 45 minutes and then every 5
minutes after.
5. For a vegan version, use vegan chocolate and half a cup of water
instead of milk.
6. You can use milk chocolate or dark chocolate.
Preparation before starting the procedure:
1. Preheat the oven at 180-degree Celsius/ 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
2. Grease the baking pan/tray using cooking oil or butter. Sprinkle some flour evenly so that the cake batter doesn't stick to the pan.
Alternatively, you can line the pan with butter paper/parchment paper and keep it ready!
How to make the eggless chocolate banana cake:
1. In a large bowl, add ripe bananas. Mash it well using a fork or grind it in a blender/mixer without any water.
2. Add sugar and whisk it completely with mashed bananas.
3. Pour cooking oil, vanilla extract/essence, milk, and whisk it well.
Keep it aside.
4. In a separate small bowl, sieve all the dry ingredients except sugar,
which are maida/all-purpose/wheat flour, baking soda, baking powder,
cocoa powder, cinnamon powder, and salt.
5. Now, add the dry ingredients into the banana mixture.
6. Gently fold the dry mixture into the banana mixture using a cut and
fold method.
7. Whisk the cake batter mixture until there are no lumps. Do not
over-mix!
8. Add in choco chips/nuts of your choice.
9. Pour the cake batter into the pan. Spread evenly and garnish the batter with more choco chips/nuts on top. Tap the cake pan twice over the kitchen
counter to release the air bubbles.
10. Place the cake batter pan into the preheated oven and bake it
for 45 to 50 mins at 350 degrees Fahrenheit/180 degrees Celcius.
11. Bake until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out
clean or simply give a slight pressure on the top of the cake with your
finger, see it bounces back.
12. Once it is done, remove the cake pan from the oven and place it on a
wire cooling rack.
13. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 to 15 minutes. Run a knife around
the edges of the cake, gently remove the cake from the pan, and place it
on a rack to cool completely.
14. Cut into slices with a knife and serve it along with coffee/tea.

Few more tips to get a perfect chocolate banana bread:
1. Use only fresh over-riped, and well-mashed bananas that work best to get a soft, tender texture and natural sweetness. I personally don't recommend frozen bananas for this recipe.
2. Be very careful with the oven temperature setting. Don't just go by time, as each and every conventional/OTG oven works differently.
Usually, the bread bakes from the outside first. So make sure you test it using a knife/skewer/toothpick. You must bake the bread until you get a clean knife. Just increase the temperature by 5 mins at a time.
3. Sieve the flour once or twice to get a lump-free cake batter. Do not over-mix the batter. Use the cut and fold method while combining
the wet and dry ingredients.
4. Keep the loaf pan in the middle of the oven and do not open the
oven door often to check.
5. The cake tastes best the next day, which is left outside at room temperature. The flavor of banana and chocolate incorporates well
into the cake overnight and tastes so delicious.
6. Banana works as fat in this recipe, so it's okay in case you add an extra banana. Also, you can replace the oil with melted
butter.
7. You can pretty much add any variety of nuts, seeds, choco chips.
If you have a nut allergy, feel free to skip it.
8. Slice the cake only after it cools down completely. Use a sharp
bread knife to get a smooth slice.
9. Choco Banana cake can be stored outside for 2 days in an air-tight container, and it stays good for a week in the refrigerator. You can even store the individually sliced cake in the freezer for up to a few weeks. Warm it up in a microwave oven and
enjoy the slice!
